LEARN HOW TO MAKE THE BEST VEGAN OKONOMIYAKI (JAPANESE PANCAKE) RECIPE AT HOME!

Popular street food from Osaka, Japan, Okonomiyaki is a savory version of Japanese pancake, made with flour, shredded cabbage, and your choice of protein, and topped with a variety of condiments. Okonomiyaki (お好み焼き) is sometimes called “Japanese savory pancake” or “Japanese pizza”, but personally, I think it’s more like a dish between savory pancake and frittata.

Today I’m sharing my favorite EASY VERSION Okonomiyaki recipe with you so you can make this popular street food at home!

Traditionally, it’s made with flour, eggs, tempura scraps (tenkasu), cabbage, and pork belly slices and topped with a variety of condiments like okonomiyaki sauce, Japanese mayonnaise, dried seaweed, and dried bonito flakes.

Simply remove the meat and bonito, this dish is still very adaptable. The possibility for the filling and topping choices are endless, which is why this dish in Japanese translates to “grilled as you like it” – Okonomi (as you like it) Yaki (grill).

No matter “how you like them” these Japanese style pancakes or pizzas are sure to please, and disappear quickly! It’s good that they only take 30 minutes to make, so you can make them often!

大阪燒加了大量的高麗菜,口感清脆。用鐵板煎得鬆軟,刷上醬料、淋上美乃滋,再趁熱用鐵鏟送入口中,是御好燒迷人之處。

燒(Yaki)在日文是煎或烤的意思,「御好燒」就是用鐵板煎的煎餅,日文寫做「お好み焼き」,發音為「Okonomi-yaki」,是日本二次大戰後人民發展出來的食物;「Okonomi」在日文是喜好的意思,意即可以隨你自己的喜好添加任何東西。

那麼御好燒(日語:お好み焼き)究竟是什麼呢?簡單來說,就是將切碎的高麗菜和雞蛋等以高湯混合,再放上肉等食材,於鐵板上煎烤的料理。塗上醬汁、淋上美乃滋,最後撒上柴魚片和青海苔。御好燒在大阪和廣島特別有名,雖然做法有些相異,這裡介紹的是大阪的御好燒,俗稱「大阪燒」。大阪燒的特色是口感十分鬆軟,所以製作過程中必須注意不要把大阪燒壓扁。
